Last Weeks Recap
Venue: Allen County War Memorial Coliseum
Attendance: 655
Gate Receipts: $14,554
Best Selling Item: KWF Replica World title belt
LaToya vs. Joe “Cotton Eyed” Bassman
Latoya who has been decent sense she debuted faced off against the resident redneck Joe Bassman. Latoya showed a lot of poise and skill and actually managed to pull off a minor upset with a win over her larger opponent.
Time of Match: 4:22
Fan Reaction: Light
Grade: C-
Noah’s Insight: I really have to say that LaToya did what any good wrestler will do and capitalize on her opponents mistakes and that is exactly what happened. I have watched Latoya and have not exactly been that impressed with her ring skills as she needs a lot of training still to get over that next hump. As for Bassman he was the one I had picked to win this match and have to say I am rather disappointed in his performance.
Aaron Anderson vs. James Bailey
Bailey debuted and squashed Anderson fairly quickly.
Time of Match: 2:12
Fan Reaction: Light
Grade: D
Noah’s Insight: Aaron Anderson is probably on his way out and with the way he is going after this match the sooner the better as far as I am concerned his ring work was horrible and sloppy and he needs to be fired and quickly maybe I might have to show him how a real wrestler works in the ring. As for James Bailey it’s a bit early to give him any sort of grade since he pretty much could have slept walked through his match.
Dave Holland vs. Tyler Lucas
Lucas showed why he is one of the better wrestlers in the area and Holland is still growing. It was a good match Holland had several chances to put lucas away but in the end Lucas dodged a bullet and rolled up Holland with the ropes for leverage. After the match acting head booker Jericho made an announcement that will pit The Fallen (Spike Kane and Tyler Lucas) versus the Holland Brothers with the added stip of whomever gets the pinfall gets a title match with Milo Holland.
Time of Match: 8:43
Fan Reaction: Moderate
Grade: C+
Noah’s Insight: Lucas since he was in nMw I have thought was nothing more then a step above a jobber but evidently after nMw closed the real Lucas has emerged and showed just what a real star he can be. I still think he is a bit raw and rough around the edges but the potential is there. As for Holland I think the team might have been handed a hard match against Spike and Lucas but hell who knows it might also bring out the best in the brother tandem.
Nola ©vs. Cain Alexander
(Falls Count Anywhere Match, Diamond Championship Match)
Match of the Night as far as I am concerned and this is really one of the better feuds in the early going of KWF and this match is just another reason to keep watching. One would have thought that a rematch would have been better at the next PPV and build up to it but Nola showed why she is one of the brighter female stars as she managed to retain her title over a tough Alexander but I have a feeling this is not going to end here if anything it is only going to heat up as the summer months get hotter.
Time of Match: 14:33
Grade: B (Match of the Night)
Fan Reaction: Highly Moderate
Noah’s Insight: I have to say where the lower card has managed to not stand out in any way at all the mid to high card is where it is at and this is a prime example of why. Nola is a god champ, not a Noah Hanson mind you but still she is good. Cain although he lost is still in the hunt for the belt simply because the challengers are not exactly impressing the staff.
Main Event
Demetrius Randall and KWF World Champ Spike Kane vs. Steve Anderson and Kidd Karnage
Randall and Kane show why they are so dangerous as a team, they work together well and it shows even though the stable is relatively new you can tell the time that they have put into their teamwork. They used the ring to their advantage and effectively controlled the pace of the match. Anderson seemed more like he was only concerned with getting his hands on Kane regardless of the outcome of the match. Still not sold on Kidd Karnage being in the main event scene but at this point there are few options.
Time of Match: 18:55
Grade: B-
Fan Reaction: Slightly High
Noah’s Insight: Wow Randall main eventing and Spike Kane as “your” World champion, a man that I practically owned in nMw and he is running the show at the moment. Anderson needs to get his head straight and figure out what he really wants in this business. I mean he is an incredibly talented wrestler but the focus of a dog chasing a car, he wouldn’t know what to do with it if he caught it. As for Karnage again I am sold on him main eventing but this again goes back to not having a lot of options.
