As the scene opens from a blank black screen, a man with shoulder length black hair, and sunken blue eyes stands stoic against the poorly light backdrop of a wall with peeling white wallpaper. His faded "Megadeath" t-shirt hangs down over his baggy, ripped and torn blue jeans covering his feet as they stand in black and red sandals.
Man:"The King Wrestling Federation. Interesting name if I might say so myself. Ladies and Gentlemen viewing this very program, my name is Derek Stone. Some of you have seen more elsewhere and for many of you, the majority of you this is your premier opportunity to me perform my craft."
Derek puts his hands in his pocket and leans with his shoulder against the wall.
Derek:"I don't do pyrotechnics, I don't do fancy light schemes, and I damn sure don't wear a persona to that ring to sell merchandise. I'm a reminder of the old days when professional wrestling was a competition. When professional wrestling was actually considered a sport. When professional wrestling was actually taken seriously. "
Derek wipes his face with his hand, his long black hair working it's way over his eyes.
Derek:"You see I don't care about massing a following, or impressing the politics. All I care about is winning. As a great leader of generations past once said, by any means necessary. I will take any risk, I will jump on any opportunity, I will do whatever it takes to win."
Derek stands from against the wall and makes his way to a window on the far side of the room. It's night outside and glow from a nearby street lamp lights an empty road.
Derek:"Losing is not an option. My methods may be unorthodox, but their effective. I'm not one to sit at home and study video tapes and DVDs, I don't read the magazines and I definitely don't follow what the Internet has to say. When that bell rings I'm a different man. A methodical, calculating man. I don't think of my opponent merely as a fellow wrestler but more like a opportunity. The weak will fall to the side and the strong will conquer all."
Derek with his back to the camera takes a deep breathe never taking his eyes off the window.
Derek:"All I know about you "Six Star" James Bailey is your name. Or better yet, your number. You are number one on the trail of competitors in that locker room who I will take on, and defeat. James I trust that you're a traveled competitor that this is far from your first rodeo as they say."
Derek slowly turns and faces the camera.
Derek:"But what do you do against a man with nothing to lose and everything and James I mean EVERYTHING to gain? How do you prepare for someone who has seen the pinnacle of there profession and fallen to a level so low, so dark, so decrepit that words can not describe?"
The camera closes in on Derek's face.
Derek:"How do you prepare for an individual or a man who once earned his way to the top only to have everything taken in one fell swoop? Have you ever climbed the mountain James?"
Beads of sweat begin to pour down Derek's forehead as he intensifies.
Derek:"Have you ever reached the top and looked down in reminiscence and thought about everything you had to do to get there? All the blood, all the sweat, the tears, the divorces the broken friendships, the missed holidays HAVE YOU JAMES!?!"
Derek turns again and faces the window.
Derek:"For somethings James Bailey there is a self-driven purpose. For others we let fate or destiny or god or whatever it is that clasp your hands together and say a silent whisper to in the night, we let them decide. I don't want to make feeble threats or extend the olive branch of peace James, but please be aware. Be aware that the man you are facing is willing to go the distance. Willing to become an animal, a demon, an absolute machine if necessary."
Derek turns back and faces the camera.
Derek:"James, this is the beginning. Only the beginning. I'll be seeing you."
The camera drops and watches as Derek's feet pass by. A creaking sound is heard followed by the light slam of a door closing as the scene fades to black.
