*It is but a few minutes after the previous video. Milo and Dave Holland are walking along the corridors of the facility, heading to an unknown destination. As before Milo is looking intently ahead, Dave doing the same but not quite as intensely as his brother, He always was the more light hearted of the two. He is still dressed in his standard wrestling gear while Milo's wearing his civilian clothes which aren't actually all that different from his wrestling attire.*
A true warrior always adapts. Always learns. He's confident in his abilities but is always mindful that there are others out there who know more and are better than himself. The goal of a true warrior is to be as good as he can be and always strives to make himself better. He takes the abilities he has and combines them with abilities he has learned, becoming more than the sum of his skill based parts. A true warrior is someone who can be defeated one week only to come back stronger the next against the same opponent and lay down the one who defeated him. Someone who overturns any and all before him. Someone who can take it on the chin and continue to push on. A true warrior is what I was, what I always have been. Never giving up, never relenting. It has been said of me that I am born in the wrong century. Were I to have been born in the middle ages I would be a mighty knight, slaughtering the enemies of my king with riches and women heaped at my feet. I don't doubt it for a second.
*The pair turn into a large open space. The room is surrounded by gym equipment and computers. Also present are a group of men wearing lab coats and holding clip boards, monitoring another group od presumably athletes using various machines. In the middle of the room is a wrestling ring also in the ring is a crash mat.*
Milo: Dave?... What's that?
Dave: ..... It's a crash mat, Milo.
Milo: I know that... what's it doing in there? I thought you were going to teach me stuff, not pussy foot around?
Dave: I am. But if I'm going to teach you I have to be in there with you... it has to be me you're hitting. I'd rather you didn't break me, it might take you a while to pick up some of this stuff.
Milo: I get it.
*Milo takes off his jacket and shirt, leaving him bare chested wearing his dark jeans and boots. The two climb into the wrestling ring.*
Dave: Now there are two key aspects to your training. Two things that could be improved. Holds and defence.
Milo: I'm tough enough as it is.
Dave: I didn't say toughness, I said defence. If you deflect a blow not only do you spare your toughness you also thrown the opponent off balance making them easier to strike or grab and land an impact move on. But that'll come later.. first holds. I want you to grab me as if you wanted to completely control me.
*Milo shrugs and lifts Dave in a bear hug. Dave's face turns red as the life is squeezed out of him. He then decides he's had enough and strikes Milo in the face. Milo drops Dave.*
Dave: Not bad... but did you see how easy it was for me to get out of.
Milo: True.. but your face sure went purple.
Dave: True. Damage, good... efficiency not so much. Try this instead for control.
*Dave takes hold of Milo's wrist and twists it round to apply a wrist lock. Milo is bent over. He's not struggling so there's no pain but he is under Dave's control.*
Milo: Yeah... that's pretty good.
Dave: Plus with your massive arm span you could actually use your other arm to apply even more pressure to the back of the shoulder.
Milo: Ok... my turn.
*Dave lets Milo up and gives him a brief talk through applying the wrist lock. Milo has a go a few times but fails. Then, he actually manages to apply it, using his other hand as Dave instructed to apply p[ressure on the shoulder.*
Dave: Excellent, now...
Milo: Hang on.. what do I do now? If I let go to hit him with something he's just going to get away.
Dave: Unless you apply more pressure at the shoulder. I can only go in one direction from here.
Milo: Like this?
*Milo applies a little extra pressure to Dave's shoulder, surprised to find Dave lands face first on the canvas.*
Milo: Cool.
Dave: And from here you can lock in a crossface.
Milo: Ok......... how do I do that?
*Dave talks Milo through the process of applying a crossface. After a few tries Milo gets the hang of it and locks it in on Dave who would scream in pain but is too darn proud of his brother to do so. After a while Dave taps out, realising this is the only thing Milo will react to to let him go other thana referee's order. Dave stands facing Milo.*
Dave: Ok... now I'm going to come at you as if to lock up. This move'll be especially good against the power grapplers who reckon they can out-technical you because of your size so this'll be the route they'll go. I want you to wristlock me, force me down and put me in a crossface, all the while I'll know it's coming and try to get out of it. Ok?
Milo: Ok.
*Dave raises his arms in the classic 'lock up challenge' pose as he approaches Milo. Milo does the same. The pair go to lock up but Milo grabs the one arm with both hands. He quickly gets the wristlock being very quick to pick up the technique. Dave fights to try and get out of the wristlock by flipping forward but Milo is too quick in forcing Dave to the ground so Dave doesn't have chance. Milo then quickly moves to lock in the crossface which he does so expertly. Either his brother's an excellent teacher or he's an excellent learner... or both. Dave taps out and both men stand.*
Dave: Excellent. You now have another combo move to your moveset.
Milo: I like it.
Dave: Now.. for this one I'll need you to come over to the turnbuckle. You won't need to when you do it but you being so much taller I need the second rope.
*Dave climbs to the second rope on the turnbuckle.*
Dave: Now I need you to stand in front of me and turn your back.
*Milo does so.*
Dave: This move is to get control over someone you're standing behind. With this move locked in there shouldn't be anything you can't control or dominate, not even the strongest man can get out of this move with great ease.
Milo: Err.... ok. Should I be worried?
Dave: Not at all.... just react naturally and we'll see if you can get out of it.
*Dave leaps into action, looping his arms underneath those of his brother's and locking his hands together about the back of Milo's neck. The Full Nelson hold catches Milo entirely off guard and Milo charges out from the turnbuckle, Dave is still locked on and hanging on to Milo's back by the hold.*
Milo: DAVE GET OFF ME! THIS ISN'T FUNNY! I KNOW THE FULL NELSON, I USE THE FULL NELSON!!
Dave: Not like this you don't.
*Dave swings his weight in such a way that Milo falls forwards, faceplanting into the crash mat. Dave then stands and lifts Milo's torso with him, still maintaining the hold.*
Milo: I'm serious Dave, let me up!
Dave: See? It's almost foolproof.
*Dave lets Milo up as Milo dusts himself off.*
Milo: Almost?
Dave: Well yes. The exertion of a wrestling match can cause a man to sweat a fair bit. The sweat acts as a lubricant on the hands around the neck and any slight slip in the hold can break it apart.
Milo: Dry hands... got it.
Dave: Now you try it on me.
Milo: I always thought the Full Nelson was just the setup for the suplex and driver.
Dave: Nope. It's also a form of submission.
Milo: You learn something new every day.
Dave: That's the idea. When you apply it though there's one thing you need to be aware of. The backwards heel kick.
Milo: The what?
Dave: Put me in a full nelson.
*Milo locks a full nelson lock on Dave. Dave struggles a bit to make sure Milo's got it locked properly. He then swiftly raises his right foot backwards between Milo's parted legs, stopping short of the 'recreation centre'.*
Dave: That.
Milo: Ah. Legs together, got it.
Dave: Not always together, that'll upset your balance as they're thrashing about. Just make sure they don't have a clear and simple line to the wedding vegetables.
*Milo releases Dave who now stands before him.*
Dave: Now, those parries I was talking about. This is something I don't expect you to be able to do immediately, but it's something you might want to keep in mind. Worst case scenario your reactions are slightly slow and you get hit anyways, so no harm done with trying.
Milo: Ok. So I just parry the punch with my forearm right?
Dave: At the simplest level yes. Throw a punch at me, don't worry about hitting me, just throw a normal speed punch.
*Milo shrugs and does so. Dave easily deflects it with his left hand leaving Milo open to his right hand going for the throat. He stops before striking Milo*
Milo: Ok... nice.
Dave: Deflecting this way is quicker and requires less of a connection to work, but it means they're still facing you and still have a free hand to strike you with. But if you're quick enough leaves them open to one of your vicious chokeslams. Now try again, same way.
*Milo does so. This time Dave deflects with his right, forcing Milo to turn the back of his shoulder to Dave. Dave lines up a punch with his left on the back of Milo's head but stops before landing.*
Dave: Whereas deflecting this way leaves them open to a stun strike, which in turn...
Milo: Leaves them open to one of those full nelsons.
Dave: Right. Now I want you to try and hit me while I try and hit you. If I get past your defences I won't actually strike you but I don't want you to show me any such courtesy. After all, you have a match on Sunday.
Milo: True.
Dave: Music!!
*What follows is a montage sequence. Blow Me Away by Breaking Benjamin plays throughout (being the Brothers' tag entrance theme). It shows shot after shot, showing the best bit of the brawl going on between the brothers. For the first set of scenes Dave is deflecting each and every one of Milo's attempts while pulling his own punches getting through all of Milo's slow attempts to block Dave.*
Now some people out there I know might wonder if broadcasting this session on television that my opponent could full well watch is such a good idea. In essence I'm showing him my weaknesses am I not? Well the reasons I do so are two fold. The first si to show Tyler that I'm not afraid if he sees my weaknesses. I'm working on irradicating them from my game and making myself tougher. I don't want him to be at such a disadvantage that he tries to use one of these weaknesses, only to find I have turned them into a strength. Such deception is beneath me and while I have no doubt he will employ such deception against me I want him to know that I don't care if he knows all my weaknesses. I don't care if he tries to use each and every one to his advantage. Because when we square off I will have laid all my cards on the table. He will see my hand compared to his own hidden from plain sight... and whether it be through clear eyes or the bloodied and broken eyes of defeat he will see that My hand is a lot better than his own.
*Milo gets better. Every so often he manages to deflect one of Dave's shots though they are few and far between. Milo is still unable to himself land a shot on Dave.*
I'm not perfect. No one is and any that say they are are delusional. Men who claim to be perfect are shallow individuals and with one of two reasons. Either they're so shallow that they assume no one is better than them on merit alone. Such men often find their worlds shatter and madness beset them the day they are defeated. It's arrogance of a sort. Alternatively they are men who have fought long and hard. They have learned all they can and found no more to learn. Such men have spent so long seeking perfection that they know of nothing else. And in achieving their goal, their lives are empty and without meaning. The perfection becomes imprefect and their hearts and minds hollow. Such men are miserable creatures and long for the day of defeat, secretly craving for someone to come along and be better than they. Like I say, I know I'm not perfect... but I'm strong enough to show perfectionists that their lives still have meaning.
*Milo starts to get used to Dave's style of striking and slowly manages to get more and more deflections. Dave's deflections are still too fast for him as any that he does counteract Dave is able to dodge with ease.*
The other reason I'm not witholding this training session from the viewing public is because of who I am. A true warrior doesn't hide himself from his enemies. He doesn't hide his flaws and he is not ashamed of himself for having them. I want Tyler to understand what he faces on Sunday. I'm not just a muscle bound giant. I'm not an obstacle to be overcome. I'm not just another generic wrestler fighting for fame, glory or riches. I'm a warrior throug and through. I revel in combat, in pugalistic pastimes. Too slow for a boxer, too light for Sumo. Wrestling is my forte. A warrior, partnered with a Gladiator... a title my brother took from a previous federation and one he took to heart as one he has always held unrecognised. Honour in combat, gracious in defeat.... though one of us more gracious than the other. Another failing of mine I must admit. But it doesn't matter because I have him with me. It is as it always should have been.
*Milo makes a huge deflection that sends Dave spiralling away before Milo can land the follow up punch and go for the full nelson lock. Dave returns to the action with renewed vigour.*
It has been a long time since it has been like this in a wrestling federation, but I remember the early days when we fought singles matches and still felt... together. When we first started wrestling you never fought Milo Holland.... you never fought Dave Holland.... you always fought The Brothers Holland.... divided on the card, united in spirit and purpose. Tyler... we're back to the old school. You might not understand now just how dangerous that is... but when we're done and you can barely say your own name because of what we've done to you... you probably still won't understand but there are few that do. If I were you I'd go speak to Mr Kane. He's one of the few. Notice he actually listed us in his list of successes. I don't know if he can claim full credit for our success... but I'll grudgingly give him partial credit. We're more now than he made us then... but he's seen us evolve every step of the way.. so a valuable resource for you to use.
*Milo makes the deflection again, this time connecting with the follow up punch and locking in the full nelson. Dave isn't worried as he lifts his leg and taps the inside of Milo's thigh with his foot. Milo releases the hold understanding that this means a simulated groin shot. Milo makes the first attack in this series of the brawl.*
And while I know that what's going on here is just me slowly getting the hang of Dave's fight pattern.. and while I know he's set up this brawl with this in mind, I can still surprise even those who know me best. I'm still evolving. While Dave has found himself after many many years of searching... I'm still getting there. I swear to you all that we haven't seen the best of Milo Holland yet.
*Milo makes the deflection that opens Dave to the chokeslam. He grabs Dave's throat but Dave drops his hands onto the inside of Milo's elbow, releasing the hold. The brawl goes on.*
But he's not far away. I can sense it. A purpose is looming. A purpose that will hone my mind and make me more than just a man with the strength and skills I posess.. more than a man out to improve himself.. more than one of those hollow men on the quest to perfection. But not yet. For now I must remain such a man... and as such I must focus on an ability that'll give me an edge. A part of myself that has lain hidden for some time. A facet of myself that even a great many of the true warriors lack. My creativity... My ability to adapt...
*Milo somehow pre-empts one of Dave's punches and catches the fist in his own hand.*
And Improve.
*He twists the hand so Dave is left turning his back on Milo. Milo quickly locks in the Full Neson, turns and throws Dave onto the crash mat with a Full Nelson Suplex. Dave lies in stunned silence as Milo lies with a smug grin on his face, the camera looking top down on them.*
Dave: Ok..... I don't remember teaching you that one.
Milo: No... but inspiration is the mother of innovation.
*Dave turns his head with a puzzled look on his face.*
Dave: Have you been reading my books with the long words in them again?
Milo: Maybe a little.
Dave: Good. A true warrior improves his mind as well as his body.
Milo: And his soul.
Dave: My brother... that is one aspect where you have me at a loss. I don't envy your need to cleanse your soul... but I do so admire your undertaking of it. I'm proud of you Milo... and I know Dad is too.
Milo: God rest his troubled soul.
Dave: Yeah... wherever he is. I'm still not used to having him around.
Nor me.
Milo: I don't think we're ever supposed to.
Dave: Yeah... I guess not. Alright, class dismissed. Let's go get a beer or something.
Milo: Sounds good to me.
*Fade to black as the brothers get up and walk away from the ring, Milo laying an arma cross Dave's shoulders as Dave holds Milo about the waist, walking perfectly in sync despite the massive stride difference.*
A true warrior always adapts. Always learns. He's confident in his abilities but is always mindful that there are others out there who know more and are better than himself.
